August 25 Building Update 017
“EquipLABS”
Today was the first of two days spent with representatives from Equip Studio (architectural firm) and Trident Construction (General Contractor). The day kicked-off at the church office with Prayer and short Introductions of all the team representatives followed by an update from Pastor Jenn on the Ministry Direction and Vision of the church.
Jonathan Edens, lead architect with Equip Studio, made an initial presentation on the Structure of the EquipLABS Process and what to expect over the next 5-9 weeks followed by a Programming Review of church attendance numbers and statistics. Prior to today, Equip Studio had conducted Zoom interviews with all the church staff to determine size and scope of the various individual ministries, i.e. worship, arLittles and arKids, arStudents, Food Truck (Expanding the Table), etc.
Based on their research into the numbers and information provided by prior Zoom interviews, Jonathan Edens made a presentation on two different size Building Options of 30K and 39K square feet and their estimated costs of approximately $11,000,000 and $14,000,000 respectively. Due to the size and cost of these two options, the project leader and church staff chose to go with a smaller size building in keeping with a project budget limit of $7,000,000 to include all hard and soft costs.
In the afternoon, there was a Big Picture Discussion to establish and narrow the design direction after which Equip Studio and Trident Construction representatives broke into a separate Develop Design Direction session to further refine the design.
In the final session of the day at 6 pm, everyone got back together, and Jonathan Edens presented a basic design. This preliminary design will be further developed by the Equip Studio architects over the evening hours with a Design Review presentation on Tuesday morning followed by the development of a Master Plan.
