September 28 Building Update 061
“A Time of Sowing”
Sow for yourselves according to righteousness; reap according to mercy and loving-kindness. Break up your uncultivated ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, to inquire for and of Him, and to require His favor, till He comes and teaches you righteousness and rains His righteous gifts of salvation upon you. –Hosea 10:12
There is never a harvest without a time of sowing (see Ecclesiastes 3:1-2). I have always loved the song “Turn, Turn, Turn” made famous by the 1960’s rock group, “The Byrds.” The song is an adaptation of text from the Book of Ecclesiastes. The master recording of the song reportedly took The Byrds a staggering 78 takes before the group had the final result which was to become one of the most classic and iconic songs of the decade.
This all brings me to this point with regards to Ashley Ridge Church and the Building Project that we are in a time of sowing and breaking up our uncultivated ground. This is necessary before we can reap the harvest and the end result of an amazing, permanent home base in Summers Corner.
The sheer amount of challenges that have had to be overcome in the building project have been astounding, but right now we are moving forward and in an important season as we iron out the land swap agreement with Lennar for the property next to the high school and having a boundary survey completed. We want to make sure our new campus is built on fertile ground!
Through all the challenges, God has taught us about his righteousness. This has all taken A LOT longer than expected, but as the writer of Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
