Building Update 037 – Family Meeting Follow-up and Revised Plans

          January 5                   Building Update 037

“Family Meeting Follow-up & Revised Plans

If you attended the LIVE Family Meeting (virtual) Sunday night, you saw Pastor Jenn review 2020 and lay out the plans and goals for Ashley Ridge Church in 2021.  She also gave an exciting update on the FOR SVL Building Project with an extensive Q & A session afterwards where she and James addressed a plethora of excellent site plan and building related questions.

I want to take a moment to follow-up and expound on the redesigned Site Plan (facility exterior) presented at the Family Meeting, but before I do, a quick report on December’s amazing giving numbers:

General Fund                      $53,819.45

Christmas Offering              $28,170.04

Building Surge                     $10,823.64

TOTAL                                 $92,813.13

Giving in December was just phenomenal and provided much needed margin in the Operating Account and Building Surge/Fund to continue the building effort on multiple levels:  1) paying down the land loan to 75K 2) providing funds for initial civil engineering costs (specifically 19K for Schematic Design) and 3) smashing the old annual giving record by approximately 80K thereby improving the church balance sheet in preparation for seeking a construction loan later in the year.

Follow-up.   One particular point of interest on the revised Phase 1 Site Plan and Masterplan which I want to make sure came across during the Family Meeting was the amount of thought and effort going into the exterior redesign.  Like the “Expanding the Table” Food Truck, outdoor worship and activities have become an integral part of Ashley Ridge Church’s DNA during the pandemic.  To that end, Equip Studio has gone to great lengths to redesign the outdoor space i.e. amphitheatre, front and rear green space, front plaza, Food Truck Pavilion and arLittles/arKids play areas to be a cohesive, flexible, functional and aesthetic worship and event capable experience.

Also, the use of retaining walls to create moderate changes in elevation on the site will make for a different and unique (for the area) visual for cars passing along Summers Drive.  The retaining walls were originally added to reduce fill (dirt) requirements and lower land preparation costs which may still be the case.

The uses of the redesigned facility exterior are numerous only limited by the imagination.  The new design could also offer additional opportunities for the church to receive rental income from events such as community and school programs, weddings, etc.

Plans  The revised Site Plan for Phase 1 and the Masterplan, presented during the Family Meeting, are below.
